- From the capital take the Motril road towards the Puerto del Suspiro del Moro. There, take the slip road to your right towards Otívar and Almuñécar, locally known as the “Carretera de la cabra montés" (mountain goat road). Once you are on this road, drive 25km then take the slip road to your right towards Jayena, Fornes, Arenas del Rey and Alhama de Granada, crossing the Los Bermejales reservoir.
On the other hand, if you take the road towards Seville (A-92), once you have passed Loja, take the road towards Zafarraya that will lead you straight to Sierra Tejeda.
-Via the coast towards Motril from Almería you can get to Vélez-Málaga and Nerja. In Vélez-Málaga you can turn onto the motorway towards Alhama de Granada, then take the slip road A-335 towards Alcaucín, Canillas de Aceituno, Sedella and Salares.
If you wish to go to Cómpeta or Canillas de Albaida, it is always better to take the slip road off the motorway in Algarrobo, after you have passed Vélez.
Visitors that come from other provinces are recommended to take the road towards Velez-Malaga in Casabermeja, before you arrive at the capital of the province. When you arrive at the La Viñuela dam, you can either go to Alcaucín or to any other village in the Natural Park.
